Refractory Patching Paste

Phosphate-bonded refractory plastic for hot-repair maintenance

Overview

What it is and where it works

Ready-to-use phosphate-bonded plastic refractory, based on alumina and chromium oxide, for repairing cracks, spalls and worn areas in furnaces, ladles, spouts and launders without a full reline. Applied by trowel or pneumatic rammer, they hold in thick layers and some grades can go on hot. We source the grade by metal contact and repair zone.

Composition
Alumina (Al₂O₃) and chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) in varying ratios
Application
Trowel or pneumatic hammer; holds in relatively thick layers; cold or hot repair
Bond
Phosphate-bonded patching grades adhere strongly to the repaired area

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I patch with the furnace hot?

Some plastic and ramming grades are made for hot repair, others only for cold. Tell us the surface temperature and we specify the grade.

How long before the furnace goes back into service?

It depends on the binder and the dry-out schedule of the grade. Follow the supplier's heat-up curve to avoid steam spalling.
