Ceramic Fiber Board

Rigid ceramic fibre board for furnace insulation and launder liners

Overview

What it is and where it works

Rigid, self-supporting boards made from ceramic fibres and binders, used as hot face or back-up insulation in furnaces and ladles and as liners and shapes in aluminium launders. Grades differ by classification temperature, density and strength; many are non-wetting to molten aluminium. We source the grade, thickness and cut size you need.

Classification temperature
Grades from about 1,204 °C up to 1,649 °C
Density
Typically about 288 to 449 kg/m³ depending on grade
Aluminium contact
Non-wetting to molten aluminium and other non-ferrous metals

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Board or blanket for back-up insulation?

Board is rigid and holds its shape behind castables and in launders; blanket is flexible for irregular surfaces. Board is the usual choice where it must support load or contact metal.

Which grade do I need?

Pick a classification temperature above your hot face temperature with margin for shrinkage. Send the zone and temperature and we propose the grade.
