Beryllium Copper Plunger Tips

BeCu plunger tips for cold chamber aluminium die casting machines

Overview

What it is and where it works

Beryllium copper plunger tips for the shot end of cold chamber die casting machines. The alloy's thermal conductivity pulls heat from the tip face, which is why it has long been the standard for aluminium. Tips are softer than the shot sleeve, so fit, lubrication and cooling decide tip life. We source to your tip drawing and machine.

Material
C17200 for small and medium castings; C17510 for big castings and temperature-critical parts
Wear behaviour
BeCu tips are much softer than the shot sleeve; poor fit leads to wear, spalling or galling
Failure mode
Aluminium entering the tip-to-sleeve clearance erodes the tip and damages the sleeve

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How many shots should a tip last?

There is no single figure; it depends on sleeve fit, metal temperature, lubrication and cooling. Share your current shot count and we review the tip spec and lubrication with you.

Are there precautions with beryllium copper?

Yes. Machining or grinding BeCu generates particles that require exposure controls; normal handling of finished tips is not the issue.
