Overview
What it is and where it works
Ladles for taking a measured shot of molten aluminium from the holding furnace to the shot sleeve or mould, by hand or on an automatic ladling unit. Cast iron and steel ladles need a protective coating against aluminium attack and soldering; insulating alternatives reduce heat loss between furnace and machine. We source the ladle to your drawing and capacity; the robot or mechanical mount usually comes with the casting machine.

- Ladle coatings are applied thin to a clean ladle at about 50 to 70 °C and act as a dry lubricant after burn-in above 200 °C
- Automatic ladling
- Automatic ladling units dose shots of up to 60 kg of liquid aluminium

Why does aluminium stick to my ladle?
Molten aluminium attacks bare cast iron and steel, which causes soldering. A ladle coating or boron nitride layer, renewed on schedule, keeps metal from sticking.
Can you supply ladles for my automatic ladler?
Yes. The mount usually comes with the casting machine, so send the mount drawing or the ladler model and the shot weight. We have the ladle made to that interface and check dimensions before shipment.
