Boron Nitride Coating

Non-wetting BN coating for ladles, troughs, thermocouples and molds

Overview

What it is and where it works

Water-based boron nitride coating that creates a non-wetting, lubricating surface on tools and refractories in contact with molten aluminium, magnesium and zinc. It is painted or sprayed in thin coats on ladles, launders, thermocouple tubes, dies and ingot molds to stop metal from sticking and to protect the surface. We source ready-to-use or concentrate grades.

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my coating flake off?

Thick coats crack in use. Apply thin layers on a clean, warm surface and let each layer dry before the next.

Can it go on wet before pouring?

No. The coating must be fully dry before it contacts molten metal.
