Alloying Tablets

Compacted Mn, Fe and Ti tablets for fast composition adjustment

Overview

What it is and where it works

Compacted tablets of manganese, iron or titanium powder blended with aluminium powder or flux, added to the bath to raise those elements without a master alloy. The tablets sink, dissolve and release the alloying element; recovery depends on bath temperature, stirring and holding time. We source by metal content and tablet weight.

Metal content
Commonly 75 or 80 % Mn, Fe or Ti; balance flux or aluminium powder
Mn compacts
Patent data: about 70 to 80 % Mn with 20 to 30 % Al, dosed at about 15 to 35 lb per ton of aluminium
Packaging
Example: 20 kg cartons, 1 t pallets
In your plant

Where It Is Used

  • Mn correction in secondary and wrought alloys
  • Fe adjustment in die casting alloys
  • Ti additions where specified
  • Composition trimming in melting furnaces

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Tablets or master alloy?

Tablets carry more alloying element per kilo; master alloys dissolve without a reaction step. The choice depends on bath temperature, stirring and how precise the addition must be.

How do I get good recovery?

Add to a bath at the recommended temperature, keep tablets submerged, stir and allow holding time before sampling.
