Ingot Stacking Robot

Robot that picks hot ingots off the caster and builds strapped bundles

Overview

What it is and where it works

A robotic stacking cell at the end of the ingot casting line that picks ingots from the conveyor, turns them as needed and lays them in layers to form bundles ready for weighing and strapping. It handles ingots still hot from the caster and replaces manual stacking, one of the heaviest and hottest jobs in a casthouse.

Hot handling
Palletises ingots at around 400 °C straight off the mould belt
Bundle build
Layers formed on frames, ingots turned as needed, then weighed and strapped

Buyer questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it handle ingots straight from the caster?

Yes, documented cells palletise ingots at around 400 °C; the gripper and nearby components are protected from radiant heat.

Can it work with my existing caster?

It can be added to an existing line if the conveyor speed and ingot geometry are known; send us those and a layout sketch.
